LASIK

LASIK vision correction surgery uses a laser treatment to reshape the cornea, the clear window on the surface of the eye. LASIK can correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism.

The procedure takes about 30 minutes to complete. Vision without glasses or contacts can be 20/20 as soon as the day after the procedure.

PRK is a laser surgery similar to LASIK, whereby the cornea is reshaped to correct vision. It is an excellent, safe option for for people who aren’t a candidate for LASIK.

Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE) refers to the technique by which a patient’s natural lens is removed (before the development of cataracts) and replaced with an implant lens.

This procedure can be done to correct presbyopia— the need for reading glasses – or in cases where the patient is not a good candidate for laser vision correction surgery (i.e. LASIK). The steps in RLE surgery are essentially identical to those in cataract surgery.
